W126 Instrument Panel Removal

Highly specialized tool available at your local dry cleaners. 300SDInstruments20030319_01.jpg (45840 bytes)
Insert highly specialized tool between IP and dash, then turn hook toward the IP.  Note hooking point is lower half of IP side 300SDInstruments20030319_02.jpg (29371 bytes)
Hook grabs IP at point indicated.  If you have an adjustable steering wheel, move it to the fully extended position to give room for removing the IP.  When disconnecting the wires and cables, pay attention to placement of the free clock power supply upon removal, as it is hot. 300SDInstruments20030319_20.jpg (28553 bytes)
IP on bench.  Tach/clock on left, speedometer/odometer in center, and engine/fuel instrument on the right.  Speedometer must be removed first. 300SDInstruments20030319_05.jpg (36860 bytes)
