US Housing Crisis Is Now Worse Than Great Depression

It's official: The housing crisis that began in 2006 and has recently entered a double dip is now worse than the Great Depression.

Prices have fallen some 33 percent since the market began its collapse, greater than the 31 percent fall that began in the late 1920s and culminated in the early 1930s, according to Case-Shiller data.

"The sharp fall in house prices in the first quarter provided further confirmation that this housing crash has been larger and faster than the one during the Great Depression," Paul Dales, senior economist at Capital Economics in Toronto, wrote in research for clients.

Tea Party rally draws over 600

A crowd estimated at over 600 people attended the "Constitution Day" Tea Party rally for the 5th District at the John A. Walker Center in Wilkesboro Saturday.

There were speeches throughout the six-hour rally on subjects ranging from the Christian foundation of the Tea Party, health care and taxes to the role of young conservatives in the 2012 election. Approximately 20 groups with ties to the Tea Party had information tables set up in the Walker Center ball room...............

Chris Marie Farr graduated summa cum laude from Central Michigan University with a B.S. in Education. After teaching special education for two years, she moved to Washington, DC where she worked for the American Conservative Union's Education and Research Institute as Business Director. After moving to Raleigh, North Carolina, she started her political career as the Wake County Coordinator for Senator Jesse Helms. Chris currently works with Americans for Prosperity as their North Carolina Grassroots Coordinator.

Jeanette Doran is a graduate of Auburn University and Campbell University's School of Law, where she earned her law degree with honors and served as research editor of the Campbell Law Review. She was a 2006 recipient of the E. A. Morris Fellowship for Emerging Leaders. Currently, Jeanette serves on the Appellate Rules Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association. She is admitted to practice before various federal district courts, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court. She currently serves as Executive Director and General Counsel at North Carolina Institute for Constitutional Law where her responsibilities include work on all phases of trial and appellate litigation.
